Bahia secures Everton Ribeiro’s stay, signaling a new era for the club
RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) — Bahia announced on Saturday that it has extended the contract of former Brazil international midfielder Everton Ribeiro, reinforcing the heart of its squad for the coming years.
The 36-year-old, whose previous deal was set to run out on December 31, will remain with Bahia through December 2026.
Bahia described Ribeiro as “our captain and a symbol of a new era” in a post shared on social media.
Since arriving at Bahia in January of last year, Ribeiro has featured in 121 matches across all competitions, recording nine goals and 17 assists.
Ribeiro’s extensive career spans stints with top Brazilian clubs, including Flamengo, Cruzeiro, and Corinthians, among others. He has earned 22 caps for Brazil since his international debut in 2014.
Discussing his extension, Bahia highlighted Ribeiro’s leadership and ongoing influence on and off the pitch, underscoring the club’s faith in his contribution as they plan for future campaigns.
