"We hope to bring the development of Chinese medicine in Hong Kong to the world and establish a more solid foundation," says Wong. The hospital is committed to continuously improving healthcare services, expanding teaching and training programs, fostering research initiatives, and actively supporting the government's upcoming Chinese medicine development blueprint. Professor Bian Zhaoxiang, the hospital’s chief executive, reported that the first day of operation went remarkably smoothly, even with the massive influx of patients. "Government-subsidised service quotas are fully booked for the first month. In response, we have doubled the quotas for the first 10 days and added 30 per cent more slots starting from [Thursday],” Bian stated. To put things in perspective, a total of 181 patients, encompassing both those utilizing subsidized services and those opting for private consultations, scheduled appointments on the hospital's inaugural day.
