Get ready, Delaware County! The 2026 PGA Championship is teeing off at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, and it's bringing a massive influx of visitors – roughly 200,000 to be exact! This event, scheduled for the second week of May, is set to be a major event, and the PGA is gearing up to make it happen.
To pull off this spectacular tournament, PGA America is rolling out the welcome mat for job seekers. They're looking to hire around 250 individuals to fill various roles, including bartending, concessions, construction, and carpentry. This is a fantastic opportunity for locals to get involved in a high-profile event.
The PGA has launched its JobMatch program, making it easy for interested individuals to apply for paid positions. These positions will be available on a part-time and full-time basis, both short-term. The tournament will run from May 11th to 17th, but help will be needed before, during, and after the main event. If you're interested in joining the team, you can register through February 10th. Applicants will be contacted 60 to 90 days after the deadline.
But that's not all! The PGA is also seeking local businesses. They launched a VendorMatch program last May to recruit subcontractors, with dozens of local companies expected to participate. This is a great chance for local businesses to get involved and benefit from the tournament.
The economic impact of the 2026 PGA Championship on the Philadelphia area is estimated to be a staggering $125 million. That's a huge boost for the local economy!
In addition to the new hires, the tournament will recruit 3,200 volunteers.
The tournament will feature 156 professional golfers from around the globe, including 20 PGA America Golf Professionals.
