Rallycross is Back! After a series of setbacks, North American rallycross is roaring back to life with the exciting new RallyX Americas series, promising high-octane action across the U.S. and Canada. This announcement is a beacon of hope for fans, especially considering the recent disappearances of Global Rallycross, Americas Rallycross, and Nitrocross over the last eight years.
This revival is the brainchild of Andreas Eriksson, the visionary behind the successful Nordic-based RallyX series, which already thrills audiences in Northern and Southern Europe. Eriksson, also the boss of Olsbergs MSE, the team behind the development of Super Car Lites, RX1e, FC1, and FC2 rallycross cars (the latter two through his First Corner business), is determined to bring top-tier rallycross back to the Americas.
"We're thrilled to return the sport of rallycross to a high level in America," Eriksson stated. "We're excited to work with three of the best racetracks and promoters in America to create a stable set of events that will help us grow the sport. We look forward to welcoming a broad slate of professional and grassroots race teams alike to our events, and we can’t wait to throw the first green flag at Crandon in June."
The inaugural season will feature three doubleheader events at iconic venues. The season kicks off at Crandon International Raceway on June 20-21, followed by two more rounds at Eldora Raceway a week later. Crandon International Raceway, a landmark in off-road racing since 1970, will host the opening event. Marty Fiolka, the Crandon promoter, highlighted the significance of the event, stating that it "adds an international flair to Crandon 'International' Raceway."
Eldora Speedway, known as the world's greatest dirt track, is equally enthusiastic about hosting a RallyX event. Levi Jones, general manager of Eldora Speedway, expressed his excitement, noting that it allows them to share the Eldora experience with new fans.
Then, the series heads north of the border to the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières on August 22-23, marking the return of rallycross to this circuit since 2019. Dominic Fugère, general manager of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, expressed their honor in joining the RallyX Americas championship, also highlighting the potential to showcase electric motorsports in Canada's Energy Transition Valley.
But here's where it gets controversial... or at least, a bit more exciting! In addition to the six main rounds, teams and drivers will be invited to participate in two invitational events: the Crandon World Cup on September 5-6 and the RallyX Global event at Montalegre in Portugal on October 24-25. The Global event will bring together drivers from RallyX’s North and South Europe series, along with the Americas series. All races will be livestreamed, with details to be announced later.
RallyX Americas will feature five distinct classes in its debut season. The premier class will showcase the all-electric 1,088 hp FC1 cars, previously seen in Nitrocross' Group E class. Below that, the FC2 class will feature 550 horsepower combustion-powered cars. Open 2WD is the third division, with relatively open regulations to accommodate rally, road racing, and drift cars. The final two classes, Cross Car and Cross Car Junior, are a first for U.S. rallycross. The FC5, a 150 hp car developed by First Corner, will be used for these categories, which will also be open to other Cross Car options. These low-cost, entry-level classes will welcome drivers as young as 12, providing a perfect starting point on the rallycross ladder.
Drivers eager to participate can look forward to an open test in February 2026 at an as-yet-unnamed location in the southeastern United States, featuring FC1, FC2, and Cross Car machines.
